The Fifth Element

The element that makes the difference.

Golf has four obvious elements: the course, the club, the ball, the player. The fifth is the one nobody sees – but everyone feels. It is the breath before a critical putt, the training a 14-year-old does while their friends play video games, the analysis that turns a defeat into a lesson. The invisible work that produces visible results.

Why we exist

Most golf media is written by journalists who describe the sport from the outside. They cover the score. Hole5 covers the fifth element – what the champion eats on the morning of a final round, the ritual between shot and shot, the path up from first lesson to first trophy.

We are the portal for golfers who travel, develop, and think of the game as a journey, not a hobby. We win where the giants are weak: European golf travel for US and UK players, the junior development pathway, and performance content that respects an intelligent amateur.

What we cover

Five elements, one portal.

News

International tournaments, players and the business of golf – with editorial judgement, not noise.

Travel

Resorts, destinations and golf trips – honest, deeply reported and beautifully photographed.

Wellness

Spa, hotels and the life around the golf trip – a companion to the journey for the whole golf family.

Junior

Academies, coaches, tournaments and the long road from first lesson to college golf and beyond.

Performance

The invisible work that produces visible results – nutrition, training, mental game, analysis and the path up.

Magazine

Essays from inside elite sport – the stories that only a photographer who was there can tell.

The founder

Lyubomir Asenov

Lyubomir Asenov is a sports photographer who has worked the inside of elite sport for two decades – 148+ Formula 1 races, the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, and the 2018 Ryder Cup. A Sony Ambassador and Samsung Team Galaxy member, he founded Hole5 to show the invisible work behind the game.

Hole5 is where that experience becomes content competitors cannot imitate – not “ten tips for better putting,” but what the inside of elite sport actually looks like.

01

We show the work, not just the score.

Most golf media tells you what happened. Hole5 shows how and why – the preparation, the rituals, the decisions between shots.

02

We respect the reader.

No clickbait, no condescension, no jargon for its own sake. We write for golfers who want to understand, not only to play.

03

We were inside the sport, not outside it.

Our founder spent two decades at the rope line of elite sport. That access – and that eye – is the difference.
